Koto Ward "Kiyosumi Shirakawa" located in the corner of Fukagawa, a downtown area of Tokyo, located north of Monzen-Nakacho. Kiyosumi Shirakawa, a coffee town called the Holy Land of Art, but my first thought about Mako and Mako is Japan's first blue bottle coffee shop. It was such an image, but while visiting the Edo Kiriko maker in this town for product development, what kind of other shops would this town have? I was interested in it. So, in the middle of February when the weather was nice, I spent a day exploring the Kiyosumi Shirakawa.
The relationship between Kiyosumi Shirakawa and the narrow alley
"The days and days are Hundreds and Hundreds of years, and the years are also travelers" (Contemporary translation / time is an eternal traveler, life is a journey itself) Beginning with the famous preface as a traveler, Keigo Matsuo's Haiku Noriyuki "Backside Narrow Road". I love traveling, and I have visited many parts of Japan, leaving many famous phrases from the scenery I saw there.
Acupuncture statue of a historical site observation garden.
It was Tokyo, Fukagawa that such a whale decided to live life on a journey and left "the narrow alley" with his disciple, Kawai Sora. There are many places related to flooding, including the place of departure, in this area of Fukagawa including Kiyosumi Shirakawa.
The image of Kiyosumi Shirakawa = Blue Bottle Coffee is strong and I do not know the right or left, so I try to walk around Kiyosumi Shirakawa Station as if I walked around Japan. First of all, let's go to the iconic tourist spot “Kiyosumi Garden” of Kiyosumi Shirakawa!
Spot 1. Tokyo designated scenic spot "Kiyosumi Garden"

The Kiyosumi Garden is just a 3-minute walk west of Kiyosumi Shirakawa Station. This garden is a “yurin spring garden,” which has mounds of water around the pond and dry sansui (a type of garden that expresses natural scenery without using water at all). This "walking garden" is a garden where you can see the changing landscape as you go along the garden's Kushiro and go on a tour. Depending on the season, a wide variety of flowers bloom, and because they are close to the river and the sea, various wild birds visit here.
When you go round and round the pond, there is a rose that blooms, or a big rose that swims to your feet. If you go around this pond, which has many famous stones collected from all over the country, you can enjoy the seasonal expression.
The "walking meditation", in which stones are placed at the end of the pond, is considered to change the landscape each time it is moved to the stone.
Those who live in Kiyosumi Shirakawa have bought a yearly passport (generally ¥ 600, aged ¥ 65 and over ¥ 280) in Kiyosumi Garden, eat lunch while looking at the scenery, and many people spend leisurely. Located in the middle of the city, the idyllic garden will make you forget your busy days.
Pebble ... If you thought, I found a turtle!

Spot 2. Cafe "fukadaso CAFE" where you can spend special time in retro space
The red flag and the signboard in the retro appearance make the fukadaso stand out, without breaking or creating the two-story apartment building Fukadaso, which was about the age of 50 years old. A well-maintained complex. Among them are specialty stores, wine shops and beauty shops. It is "fukadaso CAFE" where the cafe which this manager operates is on the first floor.

“I used to have no cafe experience, but I like making sweets. I really wanted to run an apartment very well (laughs).” I said that fukadaso CAFE. Sato Nami's.
"Kiyosumi Shirakawa, where old-fashioned shops and new shops are in harmony, is a wide range of people who live and visitors, and it's interesting." It seems to be a place where people gather and connect.
Kiyosumi Shirakawa has always had a connection between shops and a relaxed neighborhood relationship, so it seems that there is a culture of people and people connecting in town events, and information about the town comes around. It is this cafe that we opened to want to be a place of rest where you can hang out and relax by inheriting such good old days.

Popular menu is plain pancake and cheesecake. There are counter seats, table seats, and antique sofa seats in the spacious store. It was a very cozy place to spend a relaxing time in a retro space with a delicious meal and drinks.
The pancake ordered is plump and rustic. It is a staple but I would like to eat it along with coffee.

Spot 3. Nostalgic glass processing specialty store "GLASS-LAB"
Next is "GLASS-LAB", which is opposite to fukadaso CAFE. This is a glass processing specialty store specializing in planning, production and sales of customized glasses, cutting and polishing of glass products, and general processing such as drilling. Taking advantage of the glass processing technology of "Shiina Glass", which has been handed down from generation to generation, Takao Shiina, an eldest man, has started and managed business for general customers.

The original glass with name, logo, and message can be produced after consultation with each other, so it is the best for a gift with heartfelt things such as celebrations! For processing into glassware, for example, wine bottles can be cut vertically or horizontally to make fashionable flowers.
Koto-san Sakura Saku certified as Koto brand
Among the products, Edo Kiriko, a kind of "Hikeriko" and "Sandblast", combined with two craftsmen, "Sakariko Sakura Saku" attracts attention at the 2018 interior exhibition and is certified as a Koto brand It has been. When water is poured into the glass, the sandblasted cherry blossoms on the bottom appear dramatically on the flat polished part!
Shiina's smile is refreshing. It is an existence like a local hub, such as holding a town revitalization event in Kiyosumi Shirakawa.
Shiina Glass's workshop, which lasts for over 65 years, has a nostalgic atmosphere as it was at its inception. On weekends and holidays, you can also visit the workshop and experience glass processing. You can experience the charm of traditional craft Edo Glass under Shiina's guidance!

Spot 4. "HOZON" where preservation food such as favorite jams can be purchased
A store that renovated a building that was originally a bookbinding office. Repainting the wall, hanging dried flowers on the ceiling, the decoration of the shop is cute!
I walked to Fukagawa Fudokawa Edo museum street, and I found a store food specialty store "HOZON" that I found near it. Here, we select home-made jams and syrups, liqueurs, home-made preserved food made with materials from all over Japan, and other products that are effective for preservation. When you enter the store, the colorful products line up 360 degrees, it's a fun store just looking!
The store food in the store is carefully selected from about 300 to 400 and displayed.
“Sado Preservation” manufactured using seasonal materials collected on Sado Island is a project that began in 2017 in order to appeal the appeal of Sado Island from the island to the whole country.
Sado Island, located in the north of Niigata, is where the warm current from the south and the cold current from the north meet. As a result, it is possible to take food from warm land and cold land, and is rich in materials such as rice, lemon, shikuwasa, bitter gourd, cherries and seafood. This product, packed with Sado Island material as a preservation food, is packed with the feelings of people who refrain from pesticides and chemical fertilizers to protect the Toki throughout the island.
We also introduce how to arrange for product POPs.
When the project started, we made "Sado Preservation" products based on Sado Island, but at the same time it was opened, we will shift manufacturing to this. "There are a lot of specialty shops in Kiyosumi Shirakawa. Many people want to find something they like, and there are many families because it is a residential area. I can approach those people, so I think it is a place where they can put out their colors. "That's Mr. Shun Takeda, who is representative of" a moment "a joint company operating HOZON.
If you look closely, there are a lot of strange combinations of jams. "Jam is not only applied to bread, but also for meat and fish and other dishes. I would like to suggest ways to enjoy jam by developing twists, twists, and various combinations. "Matsu Takeda"
Unique jam made of Sado material
Among them, the popular product is "Gobout Yuzu Miso", which is made by cutting burdocks into jam. Is this good for mackerel and cheese? If you choose a jam that you are interested in, ask the shop how to arrange it, and the breadth of how to enjoy the jam will also expand! As the materials used vary depending on the season, it is also recommended to try different types of things.

Spot 5. A place where people meet people and things "ten"
About 20 minutes walk from HOZON I visited the shop "ten" which was just opened in February 2019. This shop, located just below the Sumida River Ohashi, displays Utsuwa and miscellaneous goods made by Japanese artisans and authors, as well as other original products and apparel products.
The front of the building has shutters closed on the factory side, so when entering the shop, it passes along the narrow left side of the front, goes out along the river and enters from the back door.
There is a factory attached to the back of the fitting room, and when the door is opened, it looks like a different world.
Seemingly a select shop? You may think, but this is a place where people meet people and things meet. The shop is equipped with a metalworking factory, and there is a large metal craftsman, Mr. Kawai. The shop and the plant can go back and forth with one door, so that customers interested in making things can come to the plant and the craftsman can come to the shop side.
The large slopes along the walls, the doors, and the tables inside the store are all made by Mr. Kawai, who specializes in the interior industry and fixtures. By the way, these are all items available for purchase.
Mr. Yamamoto who is the 5th year of starting tea ceremony. "I want you to spend time relaxing with a cup of tea at the store," said the tea.
"There are few situations where it is difficult for the young generation to grow up because the craftsmen are mostly in and out of the field and in the factory, and there is no opportunity to meet an unspecified number of people. As a result of trial and error to create an opportunity to interact with each other, it has led to the opening of a shop with an attached factory, "says Yamamoto Sae.
Mr. Yamamoto, who originally used to work in apparel, was attracted by the time-consuming, time-consuming Japanese manufacturing that he wanted to introduce as many Japanese craftsmen as a shop. This shop that embodies such a thought can not be told only by the word “select shop”.

Kiyosumi Shirakawa has many designers and architects, and it is a good town to make things. "I think it would be nice to not only sell things, but also create a work where customers can talk while talking, and create something connected here" (Mr. Yamamoto)
In a space surrounded by Japanese manufacturing, I had delicious tea and sweets, and I was able to spend a slow time like the flow of the Sumida River.

Finally, walk along the Sumida River to the Zen statue
The Kiyosu Bridge seen in the back is under painting repainting construction.
I visited five spots from around noon and noticed that the sunset looks beautiful around 16:30. At the end of "Kiyosumi Hakuhe Narrow Path", I will conclude by saying hello to Dr. Tatsumi. Hearing the rumor that the Zen statue in the Historic Site Observation Garden will turn 45 degrees towards the Sumida River and light up at 17:00. The camera is on standby.
芭蕉 庵 The historical site observation garden is open from 9:15 to 16:30. I can't see the statue turning around so I can stand by the river.
Yay! He turned to me as if Mr. Tsuji was saying "Thank you". Dr. Tatsumi has found one of the haiku's philosophy of "imperceptible" in the "back way". It is said that the changing epidemic in search of a new spot is actually the essence of haiku's infidelity, and the infidelity and the epidemic should be combined at the root.
If you think about the spot you visited this time, you can renovate a vacant apartment or warehouse that originally existed, or approach a long-standing technology in a new way. This town where new things are born while preserving the taste of the downtown area was the "Kiyosumi Hakukawa Backside Path" that was realized just as "a pandemic".
